We’re proud to announce that Tom Watson has officially joined our Tour Staff! Widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers ever, Watson will play Callaway clubs and an Odyssey Putter in competition on the Champions Tour, European Tour, and during his final appearance at Augusta this April.
Watson’s legendary career has featured 8 major wins on the PGA Tour, led by five victories at the Open Championship. He has also provided some of the most historic moments in major championship history, including his iconic chip-in on the 71st hole at Pebble Beach in the 1982 US Open. He won the unforgettable head-to-head showdown that was remembered as the “Duel in the Sun” against Jack Nicklaus at Turnberry in 1977. And in 2009 again at Turnberry, he thrilled the golf world by nearly becoming the oldest major champion ever at 59-years-old.
Watson earned 39 career PGA Tour wins, was named Player of the Year six times, won five money titles, earned 3 Vardon Trophies for lowest scoring average, and was enshrined in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1988. He has been extremely successful on the Champions Tour as well, with 14 wins and 6 senior major wins to date.
Callaway is excited to have Watson play its clubs in pursuit of more victories. He now joins the company’s impressive list of legendary staff pros that includesArnold Palmer, Gary Player, Annika Sorenstam, and Phil Mickelson.
